About Us
Texas Rapid Response K9, is located in Central Texas with its primary training area located in LaGrange, Texas, providing services to Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and all of central Texas, and most areas of Texas. Texas Rapid Response K9 is a full service licensed and insured training facility owned by Master K9 Trainer Roger Sprott, and Master K9 Trainer Jody Mihatsch. Both owners have received their Texas Master Peace Officers certification through the State of Texas, (The highest certification level offered by the State to Police Officers), and both also hold K9 Science trainers certification through the State of Texas , and are certified NNDDA handlers. Both owners have over 50 years of combined street K9 experience, and have produced numerous sucessful K9's throughout their years of serivce. Texas Rapid Response is licensed through the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the DPS Controlled Substance Division, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and through the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA).
Rapid Response K9, is a high quality, low volume K9 facility. We don't turn out hundreds of dogs a year, nor do we keep more than 15 to 20 canidates in kennels at any given time. Not keeping hundreds of dogs a year allows us better quality control allowing us to select and train only the dogs we would be willing to take on the streets ourselves. In remaining a smaller kennel and training facility, we are allowed to give each canidate the time and dedication it takes to produce the finest working and civilan K9's in Texas.
Rapid Response K9, provides training in many areas, including basic and advanced obedience training and behavior problem counseling, coaching in competitive obedience and tracking; Police K9 training geared towards team certification or team recertification consisting of either apprehension and/or narcotics and explosive training, and the training of K9 police dogs for Law Enforcement Agencies for purchase, consisting of either single purpose or dual purpose street ready dogs. Our canine canidates are imported using the finest bloodlines, and the highest selection standards. Our hand selected canine canidates have superior stamina, and are pre-screened for overall stability. TRRK9 also offers training of civilian Elite Companion Dogs for pre screened families to increase family security and safety, and to provide a well-mannered companion dog to become part of the purcharser's family.
Texas Rapid Response K9 offers services to both the public and private sectors. Our services for these sectors include, but are not limited to; Narcotic Detection, Explosion Detection, Patrol, Article Searches, Airborne Searches, Tracking, and all levels of obedience training inclduing certification. Narcotic Detection services for both commercial and private sectors include detection of industry standard odors including Marijuana, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Heroin, and MDMA or Esctacsy. At the request of the school or commercial business, additional odors can be included in the detection services such as alcohol, tobacco, gun powder, and various prescrpition narcotics.
Texas Rapid Response K9 Master Handlers have many years of "real life" street experience as police officers and K9 handlers which allows Texas Rapid Response K9 the ability to apply this real life knowledge and experience when we work for you our customer. Texas Rapid Response K9 handlers have searched countless of occupied schools and businesses, made thousand of traffic stops, ultimately making our handlers some of the most sought after and experienced in the business.
Texas Rapid Response K9 is a fully licensed and insured training facility with state licensed instructors on staff allowing Texas Rapid Response K9 the ability to offer newly trained K9's to law enforcement agencies needing a patrol or narcotic detection dog ready for street work. Texas Rapid Response K9 will aquire and train K9 canidates for law enforcement agencies, verifying temperament, stamina, and street readiness before training the handler, chosen by the various law enforcement agency to the selected K9. Once ready for certification the K9 and the handler will be trained at the our onsite training facility until proficiency is achieved as a K9 team. Once proficiency is achieved, the new K9 team will be certified by an outside accredited organization such as the NNDDA as well as by Texas Rapid Response K9 instructors and handlers.
Texas Rapid Response K9 also offers contractual "call out" services for agencies and commercial businesses not yet ready to purchase a K9 of their own, but still need the services of a trained certified K9 and handler. Our contractual services vary depending on the need of our customers, and we have tailored programs to fit most any need that may arise by our customers. Our "call out services" can include Narcotics Detection, Patrol, Tracking, or Article Searches, just to name a few.
For the noncommercial client, Texas Rapid Response K9 offers all levels of obedience training and certification for the family K9, ensuring that the family pet is a well trained and happy member of of the family lifestyle setting. At our onsite training facility, Texas Rapid Response K9 has a full obstacle course, onsite boarding as needed based on availability, and two 4,000 sq ft indoor training facilities. We also have fully air conditined and heated training areas to help combat the summer heat.

Texas Rapid Response K9 is very rigorous on our training standards, very selective on our handlers, as well as our K9's. Roger grew up in South Central Texas and as he began his career in Law Enforcement in 1980 he was introduced to Police K9 training and has been actively working dogs ever since. He has successfully trained numerous dogs and assisted with various departments and their K9 teams for certification in both apprehension and narcotics detection. He has also personally help trained numerous civilian dogs in sport obedience. Throughout his career he has participated in testing, and purchasing numerous K9 canidates for qualification. Roger has been the supervisor in command of his agencies K9 team for over 21 years, proving him to be a leader in the art of K9 training and deployment. Roger has been awarded with his "Master Peace Officer" certificate which is the highest award given to any Peace Office or Police Officer by the State of Texas, as well as being certified in K9 science. Roger is a certified Narcotics handler with the National Narcotics Detector Dog Associaion or the NNDDA.

Upon begining his Law Enforcement career in 1993, he became interested in and began working with the K9 unit for the department which he was employed. Jody hgas succedssfully trained numerous dogs and assisted with various departments and thier K9 teams for certification in both apprehension and narcotic detection. Jody also sucessfully started a K9 program and help certifiy a apprehension K9 for the department which he was employed. Jody has also been an instructor for the Civilian Police Academy at his agency, and has participated as a scenario judge for the Police Explorer groups as they compete throughout Texas.
